Basic Description

There are two teams consisting of either two or three players. Each team holds one Head Quarters, a Protoss Nexus building. The main objective of this and any other Team Micro Arena map is to destroy your enemies Nexus. Be successful and you win the game. The map exists of the fighting arena in the middle bounded by four zones. Each zone offers multiple default unit selections you can choose from.

At the beginning of the game you get one Selector in the 1st zone. Now you can choose one of the default unit selections. As soon as you bring your selector to one of the beacons, the displayed units will spawn in the arena in front of your Nexus. Now you can take control of them and try your best to kill as many enemy units as possible. When all of these selected units are killed, you will immediately get a new Selector being able to select new units. The Selectors cannot be harmed by any normal unit or spell.

The Point System

For each unit killed you get a certain amount of so called Kill Points. For a detailed list of the Kill Points and other stats check out the Units Section as well as the section about The Zones. When your units are killed, the amount of Kill Points goes to the respective player of the other team. There is a Kill Score board displayed during the whole game on the upper left side of the screen showing the current order of the players by their Kill Points.

Zones and Heroes

The more Kill Points you are able to get, the more effective will the default unit selections become. When you reached 10.000 Kill Points, your Selector will spawn in Zone 2. At 30.000 Kill Points it spawns in zone 3. At 50.000 Kill Points you get one Selector in Zone 3 and one Selector in Zone 2. At 75.000 Kill Points you get two Selectors in Zone 3 and at 100.000 Kill Points you get two Selectors in Zone 3 and one selector in Zone 2.

Additional to the improved unit selections there are multiple opportunities for you to select a hero unit from the 4th zone, the Hero Zone. You get one hero selector at 15.000, 30.000, 50.000 and 75.000 Kill Points. At 100.000 and 150.000 Kill Points you get two hero selectors. Three are given to you at 225.000 Kill Points, at 350.000 it's four and if the game really takes long enough and you are able to get 500.000 Kill Points you will even get 5 hero Selectors. This is the very last time you are able to select a hero in the Hero Zone. The hero unit is added to your normal units and doesn't affect your respawn. That means when your normal units are killed, you will be able to select new ones still having one or more heroes in the arena.

Areas of The Arena

Besides the basic terrain and the two Nexus, the arena offers some more extra features you might have to use in certain situations. There are two teleports located at the left and the right side of each Nexus and two more on the high grounds very left and right on the map. These two teleports on the high grounds bring ground units back to their spawn area in front of the Nexus. The teleports on the left and right side of each Nexus can only be used by players of the respective team. That means the upper teleports will only work for the team playing upside, the ones downside only for the bottom team. These teleport units to the left or right high grounds.

In the upper left and the bottom right corner are two turrets can be located. These turrets can be used by both teams to suicide their air units. When some air units are brought there, they will just die without giving Kill Points to anyone and you will immediately be able to select new units - if there aren't any more normal units in the arena.

Additional to the turrets for air suicide, there a quicker way to get rid of your normal detecting units such as Observers and Overlords. Just bring them behind your Nexus, next to the Psy Transmitter and they are immediately killed. These areas are not specified for a certain team, so you are able to suicide your Observers/Overlords on the very top and the very bottom of the map at both Nexus. This can be very helpful when you have to react quickly.

Another important thing to know about are the two flags on the right and left side of the map very next to the stairs of the high grounds. If you bring any ground next to one of these, all of your normal units currently in the arena will disappear and you are given one Observer at the spawn area in front of your Nexus. It can be used to save Kill Points or just to get an detector quickly. Note that your heroes are not sacrificed when using this one!

Good to know

It is almost impossible to kill one of the Nexus in the first minutes of the game. The units are just too weak and the Nexus has 6000 Health Points as well as 6000 Shield Points and an Armor of 50. That way, small and most other units aren't able to seriously damage it. To take down the Nexus, you either have to use one of the heroes or get enough Kill Points until you are able to select the more powerful units.
